CNG Furthering Gas System Resiliency in West Hartford

Work begins on a major gas main replacement on the Farmington Ave. corridor

EAST HARTFORD, CT – March 16, 2022 – Today, the Connecticut Natural Gas Company (CNG) – a subsidiary of AVANGRID, Inc. (NYSE: AGR) – announced that it will replace approximately 1,400 feet of gas main in West Hartford as part of its ongoing commitment to providing safe and reliable service to customers. As part of the effort, the company will install underground facilities on Farmington Avenue in West Hartford. The project is designed to help provide further efficiency and resiliency of the natural gas system and meet the community’s growing energy demands. CNG is working closely with residents and businesses in the area to ensure that all improvements are performed safely and with minimal disruption.

Work will begin on or near March 20th and continue until the project is complete. The project is estimated to take several weeks, with work taking place Sunday through Thursday, from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. Traffic will be detoured in the work area on Farmington Avenue between Walden Street and South Main Street. Proper signage will be posted. 

CNG has obtained the required municipal approvals and authorization to complete this project. Work in this area may impact local traffic; therefore, residents and drivers are encouraged to drive carefully through the work zones. Also, remember that CNG will:

  • Complete our work safely and effectively;
  • Attempt to keep any inconvenience to a minimum; and
  • Be responsible for permanent restoration of any property disturbed by our construction as soon as possible upon completion of our work.
